Hot/Cold therapy is the most common therapy for body injuries.
Cold application is most commonly used in acute stages for the first 48 hours after an injury occurs. Cold constricts blood vessels and limits bleeding at the injury site.
Hot therapy is recommended when injuries are chronic and persistent. Heat increases blood flow and the extensibility of soft tissue. This encourages muscle relaxation to relive sore or stiff muscles.
